Potries

Potries is a small village just inland from Gandia and Oliva.

From Alicante and Valencia airports on the AP7 exit junction 61 signposted Oliva. Follow the N332 towards Gandia and take the CV679 to the CV680. This should be signposted to Villalonga, Potries.

Potries is a friendly village nestling in the heart of the fertile region of La Safor, just five minutes away from larger towns such as Oliva and Gandía, and halfway between the unique beaches along the coastline. On a bus route to Gandia makes this village accessible without a car, from Gandia train station which is also the bus station there is a link to Valencia so a great place to go out and see the historical sites.

For several years Potries has been engaged in developing various projects to enhance its interesting cultural and natural heritage, creating various options that are attractive to the visitor the Water Route, Ángel Domínguez’s Pottery Works, The Permanent Collection of Ceramic Art, along with the adaptation and signage of the most important features both in and outside the town itself.

All these elements help create a product that is extremely attractive to visitors that enjoy Cultural Tourism and is enhanced by a regular programme of popular activities and festivities such as: el Porrat de Sant Blas, a fiesta declared to be of particular tourist interest in the Province of Valencia.

The village has a mini supermarket, various bars and restaurants, market held in Plaza de Valencias, banks, church, town hall although only the size of a village, hairdressers, mini supermarket and various other amenities. Along with the local weekly market.

Swimming Pool the local pool is open for the summer months and a family pass can be obtained form the town hall.

 

Golf Club in Gandia is situated between Gandia and the beach of Grau de Gandia. 9 Holes with a putting green and practice range. Although I have seen websites saying 18 hole course! 

International Schools

There are several schools in and around the area but the nearest International School is the British School Gandia which offers the following:

Beaches

A wide choice of beaches are within 15 minutes of Potries. Daimus, Bellreguard, Miramar and Grau de Gandia. All of these beaches have golden sand, water sports and in the summer months’ pop up bars. Restaurants and a beautiful promenade for walking along the coastline.

Places of interest in the area.Royal Monastery of Sant Jeroni de Cotalba  Alfauir in a neighbouring village with the building dating back to 1388 it is one of the most prestigious Monasteries in the Valencian region. It is now open to the public through an agreement with the Valencian government.

Collegiate Basilica of Santa Maria of Gandia also known as La Seu build started in the 14th Century it is Gothic style and well worth a visit.

Borja Palace this is a beautiful example of a palace. It shows the grandeur and simplicity of the lifestyle of the royal Borja’s. There is a full tour of the Borja footsteps of plenty of places to visit and see. Dates back to 15th century.
