L'Alqueria de la Comtessa

L'Alqueria de la Comtessa/ Alquería de la Condesa is a traditional Spanish Village with a population of just 1500 based on figures in 2011 and is located just one hour’s drive from Alicante and Valencia Airports. The nearest city is Gandia just a few kilometres away.

How to get there: From either airport follow the AP7 and exit Junction 61. Follow the N332 towards Valencia and the first town is L’Alqueria de la Comtessa. BEWARE it has signs in Valencian.

The village has all amenities which include bakers, butchers, hairdressers, banks, bars, beauty salons, mini markets, doctors’ post office and much more.

The main meeting point is the village square which has been reformed recently making this a pleasant place to meet and have a drink.

Beaches

There are many different beaches in the local area all within a few minutes in the car.

Piles, Bellreguard, Miramar, Oliva, Daimus they all offer golden sand and a variation of water sports.

Golf Course  Oliva Nova Golf Course has 9 or 18 holes and you can choose which you wish to play, designed by world famous Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros. The course is next to the beach situated on a 5 star complex, there is a driving range, professional coaches for lessons for all abilities.

Walking, Hiking and cycling the winter months here in Spain are ideal for these activities as the weather is beautiful temperatures can still be in the early 20’s during the sunny days and we do get a lot of those. Castle walks, hiking groups, and cycle routes the area is very popular for these activities. There is a group called the U3A that have these groups look at their website and become a member for just a few euros a year.

Market

Oliva is just a couple of kilometres away and has a busy market on a Friday morning selling an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables. Other bargains, such as clothes and gifts are also on sale. Cheap sacks of Oranges and Lemons which are locally grown are a must to buy after all this is the Orange Blossom Coast Costa Azahar!
