La Xara
La Xara/La Jara is a friendly village with a huge community spirit. It lies just 4 kilometres from the award winning Blue Flag Beaches of Denia.
How to get there: From Alicante and Valencia airports take the AP7 and exit at Junction 62. Through the toll road and head to Denia. When you see signs for the hospital and La Xara take that exit and La Xara is off the junction.
Beaches
The beaches are all BLUE FLAG which means they are safe to swim in. A variety of water sports in designated sections such as paddle surfing, kite surfing, surfing, kayaking, canoeing, and for the beach lover who likes peace and quiet there are literally kilometres of sand to sun bath on. Because of the length of the beaches in Denia they never get overcrowded. Popular family beaches with the European blue flag for quality and cleanness are Les Deveses Les Marines, Les Bovetes and Els Palmars. All patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months. These beaches are also equipped with foot showers, sunbeds and sunshades to hire.
Nature Reserve
Les Rotes is a nature reserve with no boats aloud and has a variety of sea life to see. Snorkelling and scuba diving is very popular in this section of Denia this part of the coast is protected including the natural dunes, caves, plants and wildlife. A foot path allows you walk from Denia marina all the way to the lighthouse which is a few kilometres, the majority is flat and there is wheel chair access. Along this route are some traditional restaurants and bars so refreshments along the way make it a very pleasant walk.
Montgo National Park and Mountain
Nature reserve and walking is this on this Spectacular Mountain and national park. The Montgo Natural Park declared in 1987, covers an area of 2117.68 ha and rises to 753 meters. Witnessed the passage of man from ancient times has a high cultural and archaeological value.
Noted for its more than 650 species of flora, among which are endemic as Carduncellus dianius. The Montgo reaches the sea at Cape San Antonio, which at his feet is home to the Natural Reserve of the seabed that bears his name, declared in 1994 by the importance of its funds and the biodiversity that they contain.
La Sella Golf Course
The situation of the golf course is at the foot of the Montgo National Park and Mountain; the views are breath-taking from the course with Mediterranean SEA one way and the National park the other.
The course is rated to a high standard with quality certificates and environment standards.
With 27 holes in total designed with three different names all based on types of wind.
International School
An important part of permanent living in Spain with children, the Lady Elisabeth schools are very popular as they are international and have a very high success rate of passing exams. There is a coach that picks up children from various other towns and takes then to school.
Local fiestas are lively and entertaining with wonderful firework displays and bull runs.
Restaurants and Tapas Bars
Restaurant Llacer is a great place for local tapas and fresh food. Traditional Spanish food served.
Tapas Y Vins has an excellent reputation for excellent food. Superb wine and great quality food.
